From 29 to 31 July 2026, the Clotex-HUB team took part in Kyiv Fashion, one of Ukraine's leading international exhibitions for the textile and apparel industry.
Khmelnytskyi National University once again reaffirmed its position as one of the country's leading centres for digital innovation in the light industry by participating in the exhibition. As part of the activities of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Clotex-HUB, established at the University, the team organised an open workshop showcasing state-of-the-art digital solutions for the garment industry.
The workshop opened with a presentation by Oksana Zakharkevych, Coordinator of EDIH Clotex-HUB, who introduced participants to the Hub's activities, the digital services it offers to light industry enterprises, and opportunities for cooperation with businesses, researchers, and educational institutions.
A major highlight of the workshop was the presentation of innovative digital solutions developed through interdisciplinary collaboration between the Department of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information Systems and the Department of Garment Technology and Design.
One of the featured projects was FITMEASURE AI, a web-based service for automated body measurement and clothing size recommendation using photographs. The system employs computer vision and neural network models to estimate a person's anthropometric measurements. The project was presented by Maksim Shurypa, a Master's student in Computer Science at KhNU. The development team also included Kostiantyn Lianskorunskyi, an undergraduate Computer Science student who contributed to the creation of the web service. студент групи КН-23-1, який брав участь у розробленні вебсервісу.
The audience was also introduced to EXPLAINABLE SorteX, an AI-powered system designed to automatically identify the composition of textile materials from digital images. The technology creates new opportunities for textile sorting and recycling, supporting more sustainable use of textile resources. The project was presented by Olha Zalutska, a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science. The development team also included Maryna Molchanova, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science.
Another innovative solution presented during the workshop was ChronoLogic, a web-based system developed to automate production planning by intelligently allocating manufacturing operations among garment production staff. The project was presented by Alona Nechytaieva, a Master's student in the Department of Garment Technology and Design. The development team also included Vitalii Alekseiko, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Information Systems.
Throughout the workshop, the Clotex-HUB team demonstrated the practical outcomes of the EDIH Clotex-HUB initiative, which provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with access to advanced digital technologies, expert consultancy, training, innovation testing services, and international expertise. These services enable Ukrainian manufacturers to adopt digital innovations without significant upfront investment, enhancing their competitiveness in the European market.
The showcased projects highlighted the successful integration of information technologies, artificial intelligence, and modern manufacturing approaches, while also demonstrating effective collaboration among faculty members, PhD researchers, and students from different disciplines at Khmelnytskyi National University in developing digital solutions for the textile and garment industry.
Khmelnytskyi National University's participation in Kyiv Fashion once again confirmed its role as a centre for innovation, digital competence development, and the integration of Ukraine's light industry into the European innovation ecosystem. The implementation of the EDIH Clotex-HUB project continues to promote the adoption of advanced technologies across the sector, foster innovative entrepreneurship, and create new opportunities for collaboration between academia, education, and industry in Ukraine and beyond.
Clotex-HUB plans to continue participating in industry events, including international exhibitions, educational forums, and startup competitions. Such presence allows not only to represent Ukraine in the European digital space, but also to actively shape the modern image of the light industry.
