Participation of Associate Professors of the Departments of Slavic Philology and Ukrainian Philology in the Erasmus+ Programme

From 23 to 27 June 2025, Oksana Yushchyshyna, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor at the Department of Ukrainian Philology of KhNU, and Oksana Raniuk, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor at the Department of Slavic Philology of KhNU, took part in an international academic internship under Erasmus+ at the Faculty of Communication, Atatürk University (Erzurum, Turkey).

The internship was organised within the framework of academic mobility development and the expansion of inter-university cooperation.

The purpose of the internship was to promote intercultural academic dialogue by popularising Ukrainian as a foreign language in an international environment, to enhance teaching quality through the exchange of academic experience, and to lay the foundations for future cooperation between universities and the implementation of joint research projects.

Main objectives of the internship:

Familiarisation with the organisational principles of higher education in Turkey, in particular, Atatürk University’s language education policy.

Study of internationalisation processes at Atatürk University and Erasmus+ projects connected with Ukraine.

Gaining experience in effective communication within a multicultural environment.

  • conducting online classes to familiarise students and academics with modern Ukraine;
  • organising language and cultural clubs dedicated to Ukraine;
  • initiating dialogue on opportunities for academic exchange.

Exploring prospects for joint research activities:

  • review of research in Slavic studies, Ukrainian studies, and language teaching methodology in Turkey;
  • identifying common themes for publications and academic conferences;
  • adapting original methodological materials to foreign-language educational environments.

Within the programme, Oksana Yushchyshyna and Oksana Raniuk held a series of substantive meetings with the administration and academic staff of the host university.

In particular, they had official meetings with:

– Professor Raci Taşçıoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Communication;

  • – Professor Besim Yıldırım, Head of the Department of Journalism;
  • faculty members and students.

The participants familiarised themselves with the material and technical resources of the faculty, including lecture halls, media laboratories, television studios, and multimedia journalism facilities.

The internship programme brought together 17 participants from different countries, including Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Lebanon, Albania, Algeria, and Indonesia. All participants presented their universities and exchanged teaching experience in an international context.

The outcomes of the international visit included official certificates as well as the establishment of new partnerships between Khmelnytskyi National University and Atatürk University, particularly between departments training specialists in philology, journalism, and pedagogy.
