Project: "Study of Common Ornithological Species in Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic" Funded by the International Visegrad Fund under the “V4 Gen Mini-Grants” Programme

Project Theme: Research on common bird species in Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Project objective: To study bird species inhabiting the three countries, explore their habitats, migration routes, and environmental conditions, and develop a shared trilingual bird species glossary for Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic aimed at supporting biodiversity conservation.

Project Description: The project "Study of Common Ornithological Species in Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic" focuses on the identification and study of birds across the three nations. Activities include:

  • Identification of common bird species
  • Research on habitats, migration patterns, and environmental conditions
  • Development of a joint glossary of bird names in Ukrainian, Polish, and Czech
  • Analysis of ornithological data
  • Field visits to bird habitats, including photography and observational records
  • Formal project launch with welcome addresses

Expected Results:

  • Scientific contribution to the study of common bird species
  • Increased awareness of birds’ ecological environments
  • Creation of a shared trilingual bird glossary
  • Development of a joint glossary of bird names in Ukrainian, Polish, and Czech
  • International harmonisation of ornithological nomenclature
