ERASMUS+ KA2 “UKROTHE: Developing an Occupatioal Therapy study programme in Ukraine”

Project duration: October 15, 2019 - October 14, 2022.

University partners in the project are Catholic High School VIVES, North, Belgium, Catholic University College Vives Zuid, Belgium, Polytechnic Institute of Porto, Portugal, Oradea, Belgium, Association of Therapists for All Patients and Situations "TAPAS", Spain, Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, Ukraine, Khmelnytskyi National University, Ukraine, Prydniprovia State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports, Ukraine, Modrychi Rehabilitation Center, Ukraine, Charitable Foundation "Caritas of the Sambir-Drohobych Diocese of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church", Ukraine.

Project objective: Challenges facing Ukraine: rehabilitation services in the healthcare system are urgently needed. Therefore, HEIs must implement new educational programs to provide rehabilitation specialists with relevant competencies that meet international standards.

Within the framework of this project, HEIs will be supported by the program countries, which will lead to more structured cooperation, where students and staff can be exchanged, joint educational programs can be developed, and research projects can be launched.

Specific objectives:

Development of a new educational program for occupational therapists at the request of society and based on the needs of the labor market (for hospitals and rehabilitation centers) and in cooperation with the state and other stakeholders.

Teachers in three HEIs of Ukraine will be supported by well-equipped classrooms, teaching materials and sufficient training using a blended learning methodology.

Public authorities, the private sector and other higher education institutions in Ukraine will confirm the need and value of the new occupational therapy program and recognize the qualifications of the recent graduates.

Areas of activity in the frames of the project:

  • Development and implementation of new educational programs;
  • Improving the quality of higher education and increasing its relevance to the labor market and society;
  • Increasing the level of competencies and skills in higher education institutions by developing new and innovative educational programs.
