Internationalisation as a driver of research-based higher education development: Khmelnytskyi National University at an important seminar-discussion

Khmelnytskyi National University joined an important event that took place within the framework of the All-Ukrainian #ErasmusDays2025 – a seminar-discussion "Internationalisation as a driver of research-based higher education development: a roadmap." The event was organised by the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and took place online on October 14. Khmelnytskyi National University was represented by Kateryna Skyba, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work.

The seminar-discussion was devoted to the development of competencies for modernising educational activities in the context of internationalisation and research-based higher education. The event's target audience included representatives of higher education institutions, scientific institutions, teachers, researchers, students, graduate students, and doctoral students.

The program included discussions on several key topics. In particular, participants considered an introduction to the internationalisation of higher education and research in the context of Ukraine's EU accession negotiations. Separate blocks addressed the following issues:

  • Internationalisation of higher education and research for the development of universities and research institutes;
  • Current criteria for evaluating the internationalization of higher education and research: pros and cons (accreditation, certification, distribution of public funding);
  • Internationalisation as a driver of research-based higher education: a roadmap.

Discussion sessions with questions, answers, and comments followed each keynote speech.

The stated learning outcome was to modernise the university's activities in the context of internationalisation and research-based higher education. At the end of the event, all participants received certificates confirming their professional development in this field.

Khmelnytskyi National University's participation in such events is strategically important, as it promotes the integration of global and European standards into the university's educational and scientific activities, in line with Ukraine's European integration course. We are sincerely grateful to the National Erasmus+ Office for organising such an important platform for sharing experiences and promoting the modernisation of Ukrainian higher education.
