{"id":4315,"date":"2024-04-20T14:45:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T11:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iro.khmnu.edu.ua\/?p=4315"},"modified":"2024-10-18T14:49:25","modified_gmt":"2024-10-18T11:49:25","slug":"newsstand-v-soil-proyekti-z-ucll-belgiya-houria-bouteldja-chy-v-mynulomu-kolonialna-ekonomika","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iro.khmnu.edu.ua\/en\/newsstand-v-soil-proyekti-z-ucll-belgiya-houria-bouteldja-chy-v-mynulomu-kolonialna-ekonomika\/","title":{"rendered":"NewsStand in the COIL Project with UCLL (Belgium):\nHouria Bouteldja \u2013 Is Colonial Economics a Thing of the Past?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/khmnu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/tytulka.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44769\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>On March 7, 2024, the largest COIL project to date involving Khmelnytskyi National University (KhNU) and UCLL University of Applied Sciences (Belgium) was launched, bringing together over 180 students from Ukraine and Belgium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students have already completed the first part of the course under the resonant title \u201cMoving Minds: International Business.\u201d They have broken the ice through introductory sessions, completed socialization activities, introduced themselves, and engaged with key theoretical content, including:\n\n\u201cTheoretical Framework: Hofstede &amp; Trompenaars\u201d and \u201cIntercultural Conflict Resolution\u201d (lecturer: Fleur Deboutte)\n\n\u201cCultural Programming in International Business\u201d and \u201cUncovering Threats in International Business: Culture Shock\u201d (lecturer: Ilona Dumanska)\nThis phase was delivered through a combination of lectures, quizzes, and case studies. The project has now progressed to the \u201cNews Stand\u201d stage\u2014an intellectual deep dive through the lens of literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the centre of the discussion is the provocative book \u201cWhites, Jews, and Us: Toward a Politics of Revolutionary Love\u201d by Houria Bouteldja, a French author of Algerian descent. Her work indirectly raises a critical question: \u201cIs colonialism\u2014both political and economic\u2014really a thing of the past?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/khmnu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-3-10-1024x515.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44770\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussions\u2014philosophical and polemical\u2014took place on Discord (Thursday, April 18, 2024) and Zoom (Friday, April 19, 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/khmnu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-3-2-1024x511.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44772\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/khmnu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-2-7-1024x518.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44774\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In a safe and open atmosphere that encouraged respectful debate and critical thinking, students explored excerpts from the book.
